THAT Section (formerly Astropolitics)
 -----------------------------------
With the brouhaha within Amateur Astronomers Association shifted
to the AAA_Politics Yahoo forum, NYSkies no longer promotes that
business here. Of course, any news about the club posted into NYSkies
can be 'political'. If that's your take, get over to AAA_Politics and
bellow! It's just as free for all and free-for-all as NYSkies
allowed until AAA_Politics was created on 2004 June 29.
The red-hot item is the NYSkies Astronomy Seminar, a new service
of the NYSkies maillist in Yahoogroups. Because the bulk of maillist
members are in or near the City, it evolved that they have a more
personal climate for their astronomy than only the onscreen contact.
The inaugural Seminar on march 17th was a runaway success! The
sessions continuw on a regular schedule on the first and thrid
Thursday of each month. See the entries for April 7th and 21st. They
are free and open to all. Bring your astronomy, your questions, your
cheer and spirit, as only a New York astronomer can do!
At Amateur Astronomers Association, the Observing Group became a
'no-politics' zone at its March 26th meeting. NYSkiers Richard
rosenberg and John Pazmino agreed that the OG is off-limits for the
abusive and hostile climate of the club leadership. Richard is the new
chair of the OG, following from outgoing chair Bruce Kamiat.
What? Your fat is boiling over these items? Step right over to
AAA_Politics. The folk there, including some club leaders, are itching
to turn up the heat under you.

NYSkies
 -----
Astronomers are exploiting NYSkies as a quick, handy, friendly, and
potent source of astronomy news relating to the City. And there is
LOTS of astronomy stuff going on around New York! Since it revived on
28 September 2001 (it was interrupted by World Trade Center) NYSkies
became the definitive forum and public record for matters bearing on
home astronomy in and around New York.
Joining NYSkies is easy. Send an empty email to this Yahoogroup
maillist at 'nysky-subscribe{at}yahoogroups.com'. Its posts are sent to
you in your email and you post to it by email. It's that simple!
Or you may go to 'groups.yahoo.com/group/nysky'. If you are already
signed up with Yahoo, you go and sign in and then 'join' NYSkies. If
not, you have to go thru a silly 'registration' that's a oneshot
chore, valid for all groups you may eventually join. The files area of
NYSkies are accessible only thru the website.
