I wonder if things are headed that way?  After all,  this technology has a
history of big corporations trying to get people locked into brand-specific
or othewise proprietary stuff,  has had for ages.  It didn't work with the
early pc clones,  it didn't work with copy-protection on software,  and
it's not going to work with this,  either.  I'll buy some other brand of
printer...
