Hi, Bob. Hope you enjoy your new bird. The following site has lots of
good information.
http://www.birdsnways.com/birds/artgen.htm
You asked about nails and wings in a seperate thread. My grey has a
polly perch that she almost never uses, but her nails don't get sharp.
My U2's nail get sharp and I use a clipper like a cat nail clipper to
take the sharp point off. You may choose to have some one with some
experience show you how the first time. The wing clipping can become a
pretty heated discussion. My grey is flighted at the moment. She pretty
much stays on her cage and playstand. My U2 is clipped because she was
sick and I had to medicate her twice daily. It was easier to have her
unable to fly away. If you choose to clip you should make sure the bird
can still be able to do a safe landing. Also, some birds are still
capable of some flight even with clipped wings. Again, I would recommend
having some one show you the first time so you can see which feathers to
clip and which feathers are blood feathers.
Debbie, Dusty(CAG) and Casperella(U2)
