Mulling over George Pope to Steve Asher 31 Aug 2003 Hi George! SA> Which would include any "faith-based initiatives" (in the USA) SA> that use federal funds. I go to a support group here which SA> provides free / cheap lunches, transport to appointments etc, SA> but the transport is now restricted to "registered clients", SA> & as I am not the type to register as a client, I don't use SA> the transport service. GP> Oh,of course! That phrase "only for registered client"(and GP> variations thereof) is getting to be very common -- and people GP> think I'm paranoid when I suggest there's a conspiracy of GP> anti-privacy and complete & total control over everybody's every GP> movement! :| And naturally the volunteer drivers "need" to undergo police background checks, in case they are rock spiders, terrorists etc etc. You might hear what happened to Customs at Sydney airport - a group of people apparently talked their way in, & wheeled out several servers & disappeared. Naturally, the servers "don't have confidential data" on them. Obviously, Customs forgot to undergo background checks on the "technicians". Cheers, Steve.. (who is slowly going insane configuring ADSL / network, & just reinstalled Win 98 because it calmly removed the drivers for the optical mouse, & proudly told me that I don't have a mouse! Grrr! Luckily, this OS/2 machine is better behaved.. ---* Origin: < Adelaide, South Oz. (08) 8351-7637 (3:800/432) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 800/7 1 640/954 774/605 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
