pretty much, the last time I looked close at a weet thermometer it just has
a hollow wick tied over the bulb and dipped in a little tank of water

my little wind-speed sensor died. - it was made from a CPU-fan chassis with
the iron removed and the sensor in the motor wired to the joystick port.

it worked pretty well until the ball-bearing went rusty and then the cups
(cut from ping-pong balls fell off)
