I did also for a long time. When I finally moved up to 1.7x stayed there for
a long time. I have actually been able to keep a very stable core of features
and operating "look and feel" thru four major software platform changes, a
lot of it depended on careful selection of add on utilities, some custom
tuning, etc and I always reworked next version of my bbs offline until I had
the continuity with the online version. In fact, I still use opus v1.10 daily
(and some utilities) as part of this (my fourth) BBS revision.
<< since 1986/87 opus 1.0x to opus 1.1x to opus 1.7x to max 2.02. My fifth
revision is almost done and ready for users! (max 3.01) Along the way I
looked at RA, LORA, several others but the basic opus/max/bink platform is
just too good to leave>>
