HO> Hallo Frank
AM> Hi, we've recently installed a Quantum 4.3 gig SCSI drive
AM> replacing a CD-ROM drive on our SCSI chain whichs operates
AM> at 5 MB/s from a Buslogic BT445S (VLB) controller running
AM> the 2.53 .DSK driver under NW 3.12.
FR> Check to see if anything in the server is using INT 15.
FR> If so, change it.
FR> You didn't mention how much memory you've got, but with
FR> 4 gigs, I'd suggest 40 megs minimum.
HO> Gee Frank, I have a Conner 4.2 gig SCSI drive hanging off NW 4.1
HO> and only 16 megs of ram, the system is running at
HO> 1% to 5% utilization.
HO> I would say it depends on what programs you run and how many users
HO> are on the server.
HO> Cheers Harry
Memory is not really a utilization issue. What is the number of cache
buffers free? Bet it's REALLY low. Which translates into better
performance. Course, if you only have one or two clients connected to the
file server, lite memory isn't as much of a problem.
We've got an 80 gig file server with 512 megs of memory.
