subject: Fish Kill

hello all, i have a 20 gallon high freshwater tank, i had 9 fish at one time,
a few bottom feeders, some fancy other things, and two silver dollars, but my
problem is, i had this tank going for a year, and everything was fine, no
problems, then one day i lost a fish, i noticed some white "icky" stuff on
some of the fish, i also had slimy fuzzy stuff starting to form on the bottom
and on some plants, i suddenly started losing more and more fish until now
when i only have 4 left, the 2 silver dollars and 2 bottom feeders, i added
stuff to cure ick, and have increased the water temp. to about 78 degrees,
the fuzzy slimy stuff seems to be disapearing, and the ick has cleared from
the few fish i have left. i noticed my silver dollars have made it through
this without a problem. is this because they have a higher tolerance? could
it have been the silver dollars eating the other fish to death, someone has
said they can be very agressive, to me they almost look like pirannahs. well
enough of my baloney, any help would be appreciated......cyal8tr
