I drove a 79 Ford van towing a trailer over 150K. It had electronic ignition - no points. I always carried a spare ignition module with me. Never needed it, but did bail out a fellow RVer that DID need one. Actually I guess I was lucky - the only spare part I ever needed was a fan belt, and I carried lots of spare parts.
