Ellen,
So glad to hear you're still around!

FEMA has several contracts with private firms (like my employer Fluor) to get people
in a hurry to staff up disaster field offices (they also have programs for
retired/semiretired folks (they call it a "reservist" program)
that they can call up.
Since there have been a bunch of disasters they need a bunch of folks. I'm still
going through the training, but I'll be working on "public
assistance" which is to
help state and local agencies do the paperwork to get cleanup and repair
projects funded.

Still unable to get this wireless internet working right even though I put in in
Geo's DNS server. I give up....

Since I haven't plugged it in awhile, http://www.southpolestation.com is still me.
