From the user control panel applet, select this user, click the link =
to manage network passwords, create a new entry for daddyo with =
appropriate username and password granted access on \\daddyo. Guest =
account on client is irrelevant. NetBEUI is foolish and pointless. NET =
USE is not too much.
Aside, add network printer for printer on \\daddyo. Do same for =
girlfriend's daddyo if desired.

What's the conventional way to approach this problem that will offend =
the
admin the least?
1. Friend's kid has private school-controlled XP Pro SP1 laptop, on a =
domain,
mucho resource-lockdown, password required to even leave domain. Yes, =
the
paranoia is justified in this school. Yes, they occasionally still =
get
viruses and machines get owned for a half a day or so. They're pretty =
good,
and pretty on top of things. The admins (netadmins and school =
administrators)
also have egos slightly beyond their compentence. Not that I'm a pro =
at these
things, but I'd judge them good, not geniuses.
Say you want to USE a home printer, parallel connnected to the =
parents'
machine, workgroup setup. Enabling the Guest acct. is a bit =
aggressive.
Installing NETBEUI might cause conniptions. Asking the student to =
type things
like NET USE \\DADDYO USER:administrator is also a bit much. How =
would you do
it in a minimally obtrusive and friendly manner? Ever heard of a util =
that
does this? Ever heard of a util flexible enough to let her walk =
upstairs with
the laptop to her girlfriend's apartment and connect to *that* =
daddyo's
inkjet?
