So you do a lot of searching for documents? I find that when I'm looking
for a file, many times its a dll or exe I'm searching for and those times
the find feature works just fine. When I am searching for a file by some
string in it's contents it's usually stored in a directory I know so I can
limit the find to that directory.

Aren't files usually being created or modified when you are at the console
and doesn't that pretty much mean the index service is active when you need
the cpu and inactive when you don't need the cpu?
