Mulling over LEE LOFASO to ALL 12 Sep 2003

All they had to do was follow the scenarios laid out in "Operation
Northwoods", which set out plans for staging phony attacks on the
US to justify invading Cuba. It wasn't (apparently) implemented
for Cuba, but it would be a doddle to modify the scenarios to
justify attacking al-Qaeda, Taleban, Iraq etc etc.

The scenario for Cuba involved portraying the Cuban government as
"rash and irresponsible, and as an alarming and unpredicatble
threat to the peace of the Western Hemisphere"

The US Government was prepared to initiate terror attacks upon
the USA "in the Miami area, in other Florida cities and even in
Washington", in order to frame the Communist Cubans, and the 
plans included the hijacking of civilian aircraft.

I don't think that is quite correct. It is more likely that UNOCAL, a
member of the consortium building the pipeline, supsended work due to
concerns about working with the Taliban & then withdrew from the
consortium completely, thus stopping the project.

Not to mention anyone sufficiently disaffected by the actions of the G7,
WTO etc who take to the streets in protest against the actions of these
unelected & unaccountable bodies.
