This is the biggest problem with why gangs and crime can thrive in
a neighborhood.
No one wants to get involved. If more people would get involved or
at least call the police everytime something happens, then it might
not happen in their neighborhood.
It is the apathy of the people who allow the gangs and criminals to
thrive.
Take for instance, the incident in Denver, a few weeks back. There
was a group of guys beating a cab driver. They eventually killed
him, and stuffed him in the trunk of his cab.
This was all in the view of many apartments. The police never knew
about it, until his family inquired about him, and the police found
his car, but it wasn't until a while later, that they discovered the
body in the trunk.
If, even one person had called the police and reported the incident,
it may never have come to death.
The worst part about it, is that the police believe that the cab
driver was killed because he parked in someone else's parking spot.
Now, there is a "good" reason to beat and kill someone.
