MV>LM>I think the $300 kit included everything but the cabinet including a
MV>LM>silkscreened, chrome plated chassis. I'm going with a generic Hammond
MV>LM>steel chassis for about $17. I'll build the cab myself. The $100 kit
MV>LM>included fiberboard, all the pots, jacks, tube sockets, fuse holder,
MV>LM>pilot light, switches, caps, resistors, and wire. IOW, everthing

MV>Dang, sounds like a Heathkit. With the cost of a cabinet, a Lazy People's
MV>(e.g. Me) total kit would be about $470. I could maybe find a beater Real
MV>Deluxe for that.
MV> Of course, I have no mo' money for guitar stuff after yesterday. Unless
MV>I re-fi the house... (which I'm looking into)
I think the kit attraction is to be able to say "I built it myself." I
got the xformers from an old tube hi-fi for $10 (probably $110 or so of
the kit price) so I'm way ahead. If you can find a DR in decent shape
for $470, buy it.
