subject: GEOFILE CRASH

Howdy, Everyone:
I have had the unfortunate experience of crashing GeoFile files.
Just want to see if there are any similar experiences and/or if there
   are fixes.
The files which crashed are larger ones - more than 150 (maybe 200)
records. I have never had a smaller one crash. It happens when I
try to open a file. Then, instead of opening properly, I get the
typical error message about pressing E to try to exit cleanly. I
think that it is a KR09 error. At any rate, I can no longer access
the file from that point. The only thing I can do is replace it with
a good backup copy (if I have one). However, since the problem crops
up AFTER a successful session, I have typically found that any
backups I have saved are also corrupted. Oh well, either recreate it
   or forget it.
The problem is not system dependent. It has happened on various
systems - 386, 486SX, Pentium. It has happened when running GW
exclusively on DRDOS as well as on MSDOS under WIN95. The operating
system, hardware, and memory configuration does not appear to be a
factor. The only consistent factor present appears to be the number
of records in the file, as mentioned above. Not even the number of
fields seems to matter. I have had some records with about a half
dozen fields, others have closer to two dozen. Get too many records,
   though, and crash it may.
Needless to say, it is frustrating and time consuming. Any comments
   or suggestions?
