But not more dangerous than some of the religious belief systems (like Om
for instance).
While we are at it a couple of points:
- that atheists are more abominable than believers of other religions is a
fairly common theme. It is entrenched in Islam, in which a believer in
other religions may be a guest (albeit to be proseletyzed) but there is no
hospitality given an atheist.
- there is a difference between religion and church. Most of the
frightening things about religious groups I see to be entangled with
institutions, not inspiration. Although it is true that some of the most
extreme believers are disavowed by the churches they started in.
