| subject: | Re: apple skews the benchmarks |
From: "Frank Haber" Well, yeah. Jobs is a marketer - do you seriously expect technical honesty? Rigor? Bwahaha. Cases in point: When the P3 just had a massive mips and clock-speed advantage, Apple mumbled on about floating-point and integration of same with the graphics subsystem. True for PS7 users. For others.....? When the P4 had piplelines too many and too long, and Jobs still had lame clock speeds, Apple went on and on about cache flushes (with more justification). Da capo. You don't seriously expect any pro to use PShop under Rosetta on the new machines, until there's a native version, do you? Until then, the new users will enjoy smappier launch of their browsers, etc. Apple has always been superb on the "feel-good" aspect of their pseudo-science. Hey, it's less pernicious than religion. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 106/2000 633/267 |
