It really scares me when I hear him saying things like "I did this

This is the same mindset I'm getting from my teacher, she's trying to teach
me to program without using the computer. I've been there before and
perhaps one of the biggest advantages to programming on a desktop system is
that it doesn't deprive anyone but me of cpu time if I want to let the
computer find the errors for me, and the computer finds them a damn sight
faster than I do..

I didn't sit thru the whole thing yet, will do that first chance I get.
It's really cool that there are resources like this available online.
