General news
 ----------
April is the busiest month of the year for astronomy in the
NYSkies territory! There is the overlap of winter events which are not
yet recessed and the startup of summer ones. That's why the list is
so, erm, humongous.
Two newcomers joined NYC Events this month, Lackawanna
Astronomical Society and Delaware Valley Amateur Astronomers. Both
cover eastern Pennsylvania north of Philadelphia and in the Poconos.
While this NYC Events is extra thick, I can see that in 'normal'
months it's getting near the outer limits of easy perusal. One
recurring wish from my readers is that somehow the events within the
City can be highlighted against those beyond the five boros.
If you pull NYC Events from NYSkies or the astronomy newsgroups,
you can do a wordproc 'find' on the state. Key in '- SI -' and you'll
stop at events only on Staten Island. The states so far represented
are listed here. I leave out special remote activities like the 'Mira'
conference on April 26th in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
BK Brooklyn BX the Bronx CT Connecticut
LI Long Island (east of Queens) MH Manhattan
NJ New Jersey NY New York (north of the Bronx)
PA Pennsylvania QN Queens SI Staten Island,
In addition, you may use the summary table of places and events,
just above this section. The entries within the City are starred.
The 'find' trick works also for other hunts, such as 'Amat Obsrs',
'free', or 'starviewing'. (Remember that altho the very event is free,
there could be a charge to enter its venus, like a museum.)
One intriguing suggestion concerned events that repeat several
times in a month, like a starviewing on every [clearsky] Wednesday.

 Continued in next message.
