Thanks for the info. I just thought of something for testing what that thing
turns the "hot" light on at. Hooking up a multimeter set on "continuity" to
the sensor and then putting it in a pan with one of those cooking
thermometers that goes up to 500 degrees and turning the burner on HIGH and
then wait until the multimeter beeps and then I'd know what temp is
considered hot.
Mine runs around 200/210 most days. I don't have the right radiator in it
right now. I pulled it out of another Chevy and re-drilled the holes and it
dropped right it. It is shorter by about 3-4 inches but it only makes the
engine run about 20 degrees hotter than it did with it's old radiator. I get
worried when it gets over 240 I had it get up to 280 one day while stuck in
traffic. It looked like traffic was going to get moving so I just left the
engine running (silly me) I finally just pulled over and shut the engine off
until things got moving again.
My '77 F-250 has a 460 in it I have no idea at what temp it runs at. It just
has one of those C-H guages with a "normal" range in the middle of it.
Even in the middle of a blazing 115 degree summer it stays in the normal
range so I'm probably not going to bother with putting a guage in it.
Anyway thanks again for the info.
