-=> Quoting Paul Edwards to John Tserkezis <=-
Hello Paul,
JT> As far as I know, you can replace an existing commander extension with a
JT> normal phone, but you lose the pretty lights and stuff.
JT> The commander gets power as well as the signal line. I don't know if you
JT> can "fool" the commander into thinking it is on a pabx line.
JT> They use four core cable BTW, not two as in the more normal phones.
PE> What does this last bit mean in practical terms? Nothing? Need to
PE> change the cable? Need to cut my own cable? Makes it impossible?
PE> Same question whether it's 4 or 6. BFN. Paul.
I don't know what the other cables do, either they are for power and the
lights control signal, or just power and the other pair are audio and signal.
In practical terms, you *may* be able to get it to work, but as-is, no.
But then again, there is the question- why? You can pick up a cheapy phone
for about $10, guaranteed to work.
