Randall, I wish I could help but I'm in Ontario and, in BC, you can't the
Premiers without a program . Four in six years sounds about right
(but I can only remember two: Clark and Dossanj).
I don't know if one of the Premiers was caught on a plane spilling the
beans but we did have a Federal Minister of Justice talking about the trial
and enquiry into the pepper-spraying of protestors at the APEC summit a
year or so ago (The Prime Minister, when asked about pepper-spraying
protestors dismissed it with "Pepper? I put it on my food" and
mimed sprinkling pepper.) Anyway, the hapless Minister of Justice was
burbbling on that the lead RCMP (can't remember his name right now) would
be found responsible and that would be it. Unfortunately, for the Minister,
the guy in the seat behind took notes and wrote them up in a newspaper
article. And the guy across the aisle was a member of Parliament (for one
of the opposition parties) taking his own notes.
We're now holding a Royal Commission to exonerate the higher level
participants and blame the peons at lower levels (actually, that's not why
we're holding it but that's what will happen in the end) and they've talked
about subpoenaing the Prime Minister to testify. Won't happen.
Anyway, a final thought: one of the BC Premiers was named Bennett and had
the initials W.A.C. -- giving him the nickname "Wacky" Bennett.
It fit.
(When you hit Ontario politics I can give you more info and Dave Ings can
fill in any blanks that I leave.)
