See, you've been brainwashed by Hearst, too!

Hearst (of Hearst Publishing empire) owned millions of acres of pulpwood
forests, and with the possibility of hemp(which used to HAVE to be
grown, by Constitutional law!) being used as a far cheaper alternative
to wood for newsprint/etc., he saw the likelihood of his forests
becoming worthless, so he 'lobbied'(bribed/influenced/etc.) Congress to
link hemp with marijuana, and to make both a Schedule I drug (worse than
cocaine!)

To link hemp & marijuana is like linking lemons & oranges as being
identical, as if they're not obviously different!

Marijuana grows thick & green; hemp grows spindly & brown. . .

So the DEA's broadcast fears of people hiding marijuana amongst hemp
plantations is patently ridiculous!

Hemp could solve so many of the world's problems:

-cheap, fast-growing alternative to using up all our softwood forests
 for paper
-cheap, fast-growing alternative to fossil fuels for
 gasoline/heating/etc.
-cheap, fast-growing alternative to cotton for clothing
-cheap, fast-growing solution to world hunger problems (on a par with
 the soybean solution!)
-cheap, fast-growing, healthier alternative to traditional painkillers

Key phrase: "cheap, fast-growing alternative"!

This is only speaking of hemp itself, never mind the proven medicinal
benefits of marijuana itself! (esp. for Glaucoma sufferers)


The other reason we haven't got all these boons, besides the Hearst
thing, is because those promoting hemp typically ARE the potheads, which
doesn't lend much credibility to the movement!

(I guess because of the DEA association of hemp & marijuana, they figure
if they're going to go down for a Schedule I narcotic anyway, they may
as well indulge and have a bit of pain-free
