CS> White-spot? Does it look furry sort of? Sounds like a standard
CS> antibiotic treatment will fix it then. Due to the differing types of
CS> fish, the old home remedy of 1 tablespoon non-iodized table salt per 2
CS> gallons water would not be a smart idea. They may not be very salt
CS> tolerant.
SB> Salt? ... I am kinda new at this but I had never heard of putting
SB> salt in the tank! :) ... What kind of fish are salt tolerant?
Smile, to start, I do *not* recommend this for your tank. Your mix of fish
is one I am not familiar with so can not say it is safe for them.
Old treatment: 1 tablespoon NON-iodized salt per gallon. I always used half
the salt with good results. I never tried it on other thwn goldfish, and
never on a mixed tank.
Stock goldfish are a hardy type, more so than most. They swim under ice in
pools, are happy at 80 degrees, tolerate salt and amonina and arent too
particular about the PH of the water.
My 70 Gallon tank has 19 goldfish, 2 of which are accidently Coi and gonna
have to depart for a pool sometime in the next year (grin). At the size of
most of them, the tank is underpopulated. It also has 2 catfish and 2
plecos. They seem happy but I need more live plants. I have a few live
plants, but not enough. No snails yet but looking into it!
