³I would like to say that one other type, radio transcriptions, could be³
³valuable. In the "olden days" radio stations would make vinyl ³
³recordings of shows they wanted to preserve or distribute if it was a ³
³syndicated show. Some rare performances are contained on these,i.e. a ³
³song from the recent Bing Crosby box set. A record company may be ³
³willing to buy it, or it just may be the "prestige" value of owning ³
³something really rare. In the latest Mills Brothers newsletter, it ³
³shows a whole bunch of recently discovered transcriptions. BTW, if ³
³you're interested in the newsletter's address, e-mail me at ³
³Greg.rumpff@warrens.cts.com. It's good for Mills fans.... ³

Transcriptions can be *very* valuable, indeed, especially where a
performance is unique. Problem is a lot of them are in terrible
condition, never having been intended as permanent records.
Then there are V-Disks, Vogues, pirate label jazz... all of them
exceptions to the rule.
