same goes for 'el mariachi' (i'm not spanish/mexican so this is prob. spelled
wrongly) made for $7000 (film + development) and also made millions. But nothing
gets close to Star Wars: low budget film that spawned more merchandising then
anything ever seen (even Disney was jalous) and has idiots (among them: me) seeing
it over and over (i'm now for each film somewhere in the 400-s) and of course:
sequels/prequels (something Titanic can never do...:)). Besides, Titanic rode on
the 'pretty' face of this DiCrappio-guy and if something is a bad foundation, then
it's young girls adoration - where as Star Wars has a broader foundation. Also
we're comparing a big budget box-office hit (titanic needed to be big in the
box-office with the amount of money spend.) with a low budget box-office surprise
(lucas didn't even want to be close to the premiere and went to Hawaii (or
something) with Spielburg to think up "indiana jones")....
Also I think this whole discussion is kinda sad - do you think so many idiots will
be in so many newsgroups on Titanic in 20 years as there are obviously now in
swng-s? Money is not of any importance in this, why are you lot so obsessed by it?
"The phantom Menace" (still hoping this won't be the title) will be the biggest
film next year and it will be the deciding factor in the whole sw-shit: maybe
Lucas will fuck up (bad story, not that good fx, 9-year old guy (is lucas a
pedophile or something...?), horrible title...) and sw will be gone... (or the old
fans will just ignore it) or it will be a great starter for the next series (let's
hope so). I'm not joining this tread anymore and removed the ng's where i'm
subscribed to in the answer....
