You got the point. ;-)
So you might suggest registering by credit card, but another problem arises
then. A credit card is not commonly used here in Europe (usually only by the
few high income people (and those wanting to be regarded as such )). Many
of the Americans (shareware authors being among them) don't realize this.

I don't know. It is what I discovered quite some years ago, so maybe this
policy has changed lately. At that time I looked at the prices of some of the
major shareware programs in US$ and the amounts mentioned by the reg site
here in The Netherlands in their advertisements.
From that time on I decided to make up my BBS with freeware only and to
develop my own utilities (freeware too, but I'm not actively promoting them)
for the missing parts. The only commercial product I'm using now is my
Fidonet mailer program (Dutchie), but as a beta tester I even got that one
for free. ;-)
