Sounds more like the sysadmin changed your default shell and/or blitzed your 
default path. You probably need to talk to him first.
What was your prompt before? Which unix are they running? (SysV, SCO, 
Solaris, BSD, Linux, or ?)
Normally, typing 'cd' and hitting enter will send you back to your home 
directory. However, when you first log in, the system normally logs you INTO 
your home directory. The 'pwd' command should verify that. Typing 'set' 
should give you a bunch of environment variables, including your PATH. In the 
PATH, there should probably be something like /usr/bin, or /usr/local/bin.
