That's what the teacher said, but I'm one of those who likes to get a good
overview then I can better understand the details and how they apply.

It just seems like a waste to me to teach the way they teach. The book we
use sucks, the other books I've tried to learn from suck even more, so I
decided to try taking the class where I can at least stick around after
class and ask quesitons about things we haven't covered yet so that when
I'm learning loops or file access I can at least use them for something
fun.

To give you an example, they wanted us to write a GUI program that was a
fahrenheit to celcius conversion program so we could use buttons, focus,
text boxes, etc. I thought that was boring so instead I wrote a voting
machine with "Bush" and "Kerry" buttons and the count
for each in text boxes and focus changing so you could only vote for one
and well you get the idea. It was way more fun than a stupid thermometer..

You know, students aren't stupid, it takes 5 minutes to explain what
features they want to teach us today and then ask for suggestions for a
program example that would be fun to do. That's how they should teach
programming, instead of the same stupid programs year after year.
