Bought a new horse -- she's a Saddlebred (so her owner said - there were
no papers but I didn't care). She's a 7yr mare - a Bay ...... her owner said
she was 15.1 hands tall but it's more like 15.3 as she's as big as Shammie.
Meg, she DRIVES and RIDES. We "clicked" right from the start -- when this
horse, SEDONA, looked at me - straight in the eyes - we were friends right
away. (What melted me was that she has "Baby"s big brown eyes ). This
horse will NEVER replace "Baby" .... she's not SUPPOSE to replace her .....
just be a horse that is MINE if you know what I mean.
We all drove her (the girl had a sort of "Meadowbrook" cart - made out of
metal instead of wood but that type of cart). Then I rode her (Gosh she's
nice!). She stands perfectly still to be tacked up and/or harnessed ......
she's got patience galore! They had won several trophies and ribbons from
driving shows. Just talk to SEDONA and she responds (as does X and Tuffy). I
got tickled as the girl was telling me that she had won a class because
SEDONA responded to verbal commands right away ... I laughed and told her
that ALL my herd over here react like that !! The girl had owned
SEDONA since she was a 2 yr old.
Shammie ...... the "Queen" has her nose out of joint. Heck, she
wouldn't even turn around to get a carrot from me..... she is flat PISSED
. Oh well -- she'll get over it when they figure out their
pecking order.
We didn't have a bit of trouble loading her in the trailer (even though
her owner said we would have to "push" her from behind -- we didnt' have to
-- she loaded right up.
We'll leave her in the stall for a few days -- we tried to "introduce" X
to her -- she wouldn't have any part of him and it looked like his feelings
were hurt . She made up to Tuffy so we put the Tuf-Man in the stall next
to her.
She's a lot bigger than X but not as big as "Baby" was = nor as big as
PATTI. She has a short back (not long like Sham) but a muscular chest and
rump. *I* think she's a bit on the fat side - she could stand to shed a few
pounds ...
Her name is SEDONA .....pronounced Za-Dough-na ...
Just thought I'd tell you of our latest acquisition. I'm so happy that I
found another horse I actually "clicked" with. I'd looked around quite a bit
-- just hadn't found the right one until now.
