The problem is that if the Americans attacked Cuba during the missile crises,
chances are that the Russians would have attacked Western Europe, thus

Sure. Back then, Cuba and their advisors could have 'cleansed' the South of 
the
 US with nukes.

Depends. If there are oil pipelines which are beneficial to US petroleum
companies, one can guess they'll take care of that country in their own way.

Probably. But they also want to avoid that Iraq becomes a second Iran, which
would destabilize the fragile equilibrium in the Gulf region. We still
