My mom told me to spread Boraxo, the old laundry additive/detergent on the 
floors and carpets ans I guess this has Boric acid or something in it. 
Anyway, spread it on and leave it. A day or two later vacuum it up. It is 
supposed to kill fleas and eggs. Supposed to be fairly safe. It's never hurt 
my birds, either. Good luck.
