The bank failures of lately are mostly caused by the failure of the
"housing bubble," which is still going on.
Too many people who should not have qualified for housing loans got them
anyway.
One of my relatives had to be talked out of getting a housing loan 3
years ago. Fortunately, my Dad saw the writing on the wall, and
convinced my relative not to get the loan.
And this isn't "ACORN's fault," or the fault of the democrats, or
republicans.
Most of the true blame can go to those who were all-too-willing to hand
out predatory lending, even though they *KNEW* what they were doing
couldn't last, and was wrong.
The late 90's "dot.com" bubble popped, directly causing the early 2000's
recession.
If I actually could point to one "bad guy," one villain in our economic
problems since Reagan, it's Alan Greenspan.
It's becoming more and more obvious Greenspan saw the signs of what was
coming and would simply ignore them.
Now...
What do we do now?
Best answer I can think of, for bank failures, nothing.
Let them fail.
They will consolidate, or die.
