There is no need to even mention "digit". The only place it is mentioned is in
the line: 
   digit       = "0" / "1" / "2" / "3" / "4" / "5" / "6" / "7" /
                 "8" / "9"

It is referenced nowhere else. Just delete that line, it serves no purpose at
all.
