I rarely have an occasion to contact Qwest with a problem. It just works.
Last problem we had was 2 weeks ago, when our gateway router died (the T1
card stopped talking to the LAN port on the back, and nothing would go in
or out). Not a Qwest problem, but within 10 minutes of it going down, I
had a phone call from the Managed Firewall people letting me know that they
were no longer able to access the firewall. Luckily, we had 2 spares, and
was able to finally contact our router guy in Atlanta, and he dialed in to
one of the spares I had put in place, and uploaded the config from the dead
router that he had stored, and got us back on the air. I'm about to send
him the dead one, and a 3rd spare to pre-configure incase it happens again.
Other than that, Qwest has a web based management site, where I can request
new users be added, users removed. Typically, it's an hour or two, plus
there is an 800 number if I need something done instantly.
The firewall has 3 ethernet ports on it. One goes to the router, one to
our internal network, and the third goes to our mail server. They handle
all the port/IP mapping to make that happen.
We used to have 2 other locations that also connected through a frame relay
circuit that was in that mix as well, but those locations are now gone.
