There's a real easy solution to that one that suggests itself, that being
that you get the kid to take part in, and get seriously involved in, the
work of fixing up.
If there's some objection to that, you point out what it'd cost to get the
work done by someone else, and see if they wanna get a part-time job after
school and put off owning the car for a time...
