-> SK->some excellent resources for programming with elementary school
-> kids SK->that do approach it through the "fun" aspect, as you
-> suggest. I'm going SK->to post some of the things I found on the Web
-> in another message to Bob.
-> Great! :) I allways look forward to your posts.
I think you've already seen what I was referring to...the Logo
Foundation Page. At least, that's what I think I was referring to?
Oh, there was another type of Logo, commercial. I think it's called
MicroWorlds. It is pretty flashy, not your typical Logo. If you do a
search in Yahoo for Computer-->Languages-->Logo there are only 5 (I
believe) sites that come up, and one of them points to a page named
something like "Melissa's Page". On that page you find a number of
things with color and animation created by this little girl using
MicroWorld's Logo. Maybe that's what I was thinking of? Not sure. It's
been while since I posted that message.
-> SK->appropriate programming language and resources/lesson plans.
-> There are
-> Perhaps, yes, I think I'm begining to lean
-> toward putting this, (if I do) in the last quarter
I understand. If you do end up doing any programming, I'd be interested
to hear how it goes. Actually, I'd be interested in hearing as much as
you're willing to type about any aspect of your computer ed program.
I'm going out of town tomorrow and don't have time to boot up my
Netscape and look for URL's...I know you are looking for lesson plans
for incorporating spreadsheets.
Have you checked out the Math Forum at http://forum.swarthmore.edu
The Math Forum has many lesson plans and/or pointers to lesson plans.
There is another page called something like "Teachers Helping Teachers"
but I'm not sure if they have anything posted during the summer or not.
When I return later in August, nudge me, and I'll look at the bookmarks
on my page in Netscape and post some of the URL's here.
