Essentially, when the area list is displayed, and the AreaListExactMatch switch is set to On (the default), and you have an area named MSGED_ECHO in your configuration, you need to type "M", "S", "G", "E", "D"... etc., from the start, to have the area selection bar land on that particular area. If, on the other hand, you have the AreaListExactMatch switch set to Off, you may type a substring of the conference name, eg. "E", "C", "H", "O", to have the area selection bar land on MSGED_ECHO. Note however that if, for example, C_ECHO is listed before MSGED_ECHO in your configuration, and AreaListExactMatch is set to Off, and the current position of the area selection bar is either equal to or above the location of the C_ECHO entry in the area list, the C_ECHO conference will be be highlighted instead of MSGED_ECHO.
