| subject: | because the new printers are so cheap |
Hi Peter (of 3:690/462), On , in a message to Roy J. Tellason you wrote: PM> Nowadays, you go to change the print cartridge and wonder whether PM> it's worth while because the new printers are so cheap. Well.. it's very rare to have to replace all cartridges inside the printers all at the same time. I mean.. if you're running out of colour, the black cartridge might still be good, in which case it makes no sense to buy a completely new printer unless you get the same model or a machine that atleast supports the cartridge types you already have *and* ONLY IF the cost of the printer is less than replacing ALL the cartridges (and then only if the new printer INCLUDES fresh cartridges.) I like to extend the life of my printer investment (a Lexmark Z42) by using "compatibles", and refilling the OEM's and the compatibles a couple of times. The Z42 is wonderful because it supports THREE types of color cartridges: 12a1980, 12a1990, and the 15m0120. I just buy whichever cartridge is the cheapest or on sale at the time. ...August --- FMail/Win32 1.60* Origin: http://www3.sympatico.ca/abo (1:229/390) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 229/390 1000 106/1 2000 633/267 |
