I usually reply to net messages for my wife. Cooking is the only real craft
taht I can do but seems she's into so much. It will get better as she's
retiring from nursing the end of this month. She's worked for 37 years as a
registered nurse in everything from premi nursery (where I met her) to
ooking
after those who are about to check out of this world. She'll miss the regular
pay check but her pension has a cost of living clause in it and I think she
said we'll have about $1700/month to live on. I've been laid off for 2-1/2
years but got a good package when I went recieving just over $50,000 most of
which got invested. Our cost of living is about 25%higher than in the US but
one big advantage is that we have free health care and many reasonable plans
for dental perscriptions etc.. If I find there is a cash shortage, I can hang
out my shingle and do some furniture and rug cleaning as I have all the
equipment now. It uses a foam method and dries in about 2 hours. However the
problem with it is, once I apply the foam, I have to wait the two hours for
the
drying to trake place. Then the residue is vacuumed up. No muss, no fuss and
everything is guaranteed to be dry.
Just a last item: We were talking about steak, outside round etc. We here in
the Great Frozen North (Very bad joke) have a different set of standards for
meat grading. It is different than any place and the specs for sanitation etc
are extreme. Our round steak is broken into inside round (best) and outside
round (still acceptable). I guess it's like fillet and eye of round. Which is
better. Like most things, it's a matter of taste.
Now I'll ask a question since you're around or near rapids. Does anybody in
you
family ever go canoeing in the white water. I have two canoes and love the
sport. I must admit that my big sport now is golfing but I have a lot of
improving to do. Well must get out of here and keep the 'Hands across the
border' rolling.
Don Norton (Alias Rick Thomson)
I'll explain that later
