OK, I'm dropping the Gold Bug through the eye of the skull, and guessing
that "MFC42D" means dynamic, and now I'll really take a flyer. 
These development versions of the libs let you link in at a called entry
point, producing what, a smaller memory footprint?  Faster load for
compile-crash-fix iterative development?  Why can't the peons get these
libs?
