Recently a post was sent out on this echo by a commercial diver who was
asking about the details involved with SCUBA instructor certification (I
apologize but I don't recall your name).  Upon following up on the topic
for a friend of mine since then I discovered that the general
information concerning the acceptance of your qualifications is
generally correct but that some of the numbers concerning costs may be
off depending on where you go and who you talk to.  The one thing that
is definite based on the information that I have received by all of the
instructors that I have spoken to is that if you plan on teaching as an
independent, as it would seem you must given your situation, then you
must plan on spending more than just the minimum costs to account for
whatever teaching aids and materials you will need to conduct the
courses.
