At first it was less...as I had an acoustical modem...later graduated to
one that plugged into the computer.
I can also remember using some portable terminal that had no screen....it
printed both sides of the conversation.
That was about the time I worked for a software company....most of the
products were in cobalt....and when you compiled it, you HAD to have the
output of the compiler to the printer.
We threw the end of the paper over the seond floor banister....and usually
found a box worth of paper on the first floor.
If the printer ran out of paper, the compiler stopped...so the programmers
got used to "one paper box compiles."
They were pretty good...since our major customer was a Savings and Loan
that precipitated the Savings and Loan Scandal in Maryland (g).
