I recently locked up my neighbor's 802.11g access point. He had no
security at all. Wide open. I put him on WPA/2.
In one locale I visit semi-frequently, I noticed a lot of open access
points, all with a long number as their SSID. Upon further questioning, I
found out that those access points are the ones that Verizon sets up for
you if you subscribe to the wireless router portion of their DSL service.
The SSID is the Verizon account number of the DSL subscriber, and no
security is set up to reduce support calls.....
