"We have been amazed by the response to Vista and what has happened in
the last 100 days. So, in the first five weeks of shipping Vista, we have
matched the installed base of any other operating system provider,"
Gates told several hundred attendees in an address entitled "Platform
Innovations for Today and Tomorrow."

Does the phrase "damning with faint praise" come to mind?

For Pete's sake, Microsoft Windows is a MONOPOLY is 90+% installed base. If
all Gates can say is that "we have matched the installed base of any
other operating system provider", then Microsoft Windows Vista must
truly be in sad shape.

Is Microsoft Windows Vista the beginning of the end for Microsoft's desktop monopoly?
