The resolution should be adequate. You could buy a 640x240 resolution
single-colour display using this technology about 10 years ago. The unit
mounted in a tiny "pod" on a headset. The image appeared to be
projected about a metre in font of you. I would imagine the technology (and
resolution) has advanced since then.
As for somewhere to project it, the display I was talking about was a
"look into" unit which projected a virtual image.

That's why I'm going to run my HP Jornada 820 until it falls apart. The
only current replacement candidate for it is a Toshiba Libretto, which is
outrageously expensive, more fragile, and has a much shorter battery life.
