From: "Frank Haber" Glenn, What Toshiba laptop is that? How many in the company? I ask because from 3-5 years ago I had the worst luck with Toshes, including the alleged biz-grade Tecras. Bad drivers; bad optical-drive firmware; stinko BIOSes, and, worst of all, chronic overheating when the Al heatsink paste on the CPU dried out (6 mo.). Some more wireless datapoints: 11.n includes 5GHz in its spec. I haven't seen a webmin exposure of 5GHz only yet. It'll be a while before I trust N. (I'm getting better results in the NYC RF zoo with the ancient 3-duckie Belkin Pre-N router.) Apple's works, but as usual, tells you nothing. Pass/Fail, and don't ask questions - no surprise there. The several excellent 3rd-party firmwares for the classic Linksys routers have always had power adjustment. 85mW seems not to blow the RF output stage, for most folks (g). --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
