Jonathan...
It's not a FIdoNet requirement, but it is a requirement of this particular
echo. I established this when I was moderating the C_Echo several years ago
in support of the use of Zone Moderators. It's proven invaluable since many
people (include me!) have found inter-zone NetMail to be highly unreliable in
recent years. Auke continued the requirement when he assumed the job in the
C_Echo, and I suspect that it will continue in C_PlusPlus as well.
Since the election rules are established by the echo moderator, the only
way this will be changed is if it is done so by the next duly elected
moderator at the time of the following moderator election. For the time
being, the rule stands. Hopefully, you'll still be willing and able to accept
your nomination.
