That story you posted was not about some simple hack that a 16 year old
could have done. What those guys did was a very difficult hack and the fact
that they didn't get caught should be proof that they definitely knew their
stuff.

If the wireless device had anything except wpa/2 (maybe even wpa/2 wouldn't
be enough now) it would have hardly slowed these guys down.
